San Miguel County Homes in San Miguel
San Miguel County was given the Spanish name for “Saint Micheal” due to the nearby San Miguel River. Ouray County was split in two to form San Miguel County. Originally the San Miguel County portion was to retain the name Ouray County with the new portion called Uncompahgre County but it just made more sense to change it so San Miguel instead.
