Park County is figured in the center of the “Pikes Peak or Bust” gold rush of 1859. Fairplay, Hartsel, Alma, and Guffey are the towns that are in the Park County lines. Hundreds of visitors came on the trains from Denver and Colorado Springs to hunt, fish, sightsee the beautiful views, and pick flowers, then when cars and highways replaced the trains, guest ranches and resorts continued to host visitors seeking to find the real Colorado. These residents still brave the weather elements but they get to see breathtaking scenery and historical monuments. Park County has a lot to offer a new resident. What about you?
